The History of the Society
The Society was created by a small number of enthusiasts who met informally and agreed that a club of this nature was needed in Hereford. The nearest one was 20 miles away and it was felt that the interest in preserving stationary engines, tractors, vintage cars etc. was growing rapidly.
So in December 1979 a meeting was held and the Society was formed to be known at that time as the Hereford and District Vintage Club, later to be changed to the Hereford and District Preservation Society in February 1980.
Members have a wide interest in preservation and vary from beginners to members with a wide knowledge and are always keen to help each other when problems arise. Members attend rallies, shows and local fetes throughout the year, supporting local and national charities, and a lot of new friends are made.
The Society meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 8pm at Credenhill Social Club, Credenhill, Hereford. These evenings are held in the bar and are an informal meeting, sometimes with a guest speaker if one can be arranged. Social evenings are also held from time to time.
